Ulaanbaatar Mongolia

Unfortunately not many Australian manufacturers are doing well right now. Global economic uncertainty and the strong Australian Dollar are two major reasons Australian manufacturing are doing it tough right here at home.

Even fewer are exporting to countries bordering China over 9,564 kilometres away from Brisbane. But at XL we are celebrating the arrival and fitting of our first Service Bodies which are already in action in Ulannbatar, servicing the Komatsu Field units in the mines in Mongolia.

The Komatsu boys were kind enough to take a few photos so I’ve made several prints and posted them out throughout the factory. Our service bodies have proved themselves in tough conditions for the last two decades – so XL was the natural choice for a destination where failure is not an option. They love the Service Bodies but apparently Mongolians are not fans of Vegimite!

And a big esky full of cold beer!!!

Our exhibition at the LOGOV Expo was a great success with influential council employees visiting from all over Queensland and NSW. Visitors to our Expo site were impressed by the range of Canopies and Service Bodies shown as well as the attention to detail demonstrated by our complete line up. “Load Restraint” was a big topic of conversation as most Councils and other large organisations have identified “Load Restraint” as priority Number One! Many vehicles are currently being retro-fitted with load restraint systems that have been a staple feature of XL’s designs for 20 plus years. However what everyone wanted was XL’s specially designed and manufactured moveable load restraint bar and ring system. This system provides the sort of flexibility required for a wide variety of load types and is fitted in all XL Canopies and Service Bodies.

The picture shows how the load attachment rings can be moved over the entire length of the support bar providing flexibility and strength.

The XL Factory Team are getting furry upper lips during November (Movember) for Charity and to support Prostate Cancer Research.

We believe this is a good cause and we are matching the money raised by the production team with our own donation.

We are enforcing strict rules with all participants to be clean shaven on 31st October and inspected for success on 30th November.

We expect at least 20 of our team to sign up and if you would like to support them at a few dollars per Mo, we will collect and ensure the money goes to the Movember Charity.

Just email your “Pledge” and we will do the rest.

Please contact us at any time for information about any of XL’s range of Service Bodies, Canopies, Accessories and replacement parts.
