Body Type

XL manufactures a variety of body types to suit most applications. We believe there is no particular service body for a specific trade, any more than one brand of cab chassis is more suitable for an application. Our experience shows there are two types of tradesmen;

those who work at their vehicles such as auto electricians, earthmoving mechanics; and
those who work away from their vehicles such as domestic electricians on site, plumbers, many technicians.

Although the jobs are different, there’s a common theme – tradesmen transporting themselves, tools and equipment to the worksite. XL’s range of Service Bodies incorporates feedback from customers in the field.

The A-Body

The XL A-Body results from many years of XL’s design refinement.

Robust, practical and lightweight, it’s the flagship of the XL fleet. The A-Body features storage cabinets with side door access on each side of the body. All doors have slam shut locks and are keyed alike. We also offer optional central locking.

The centre aisle between the two side modules provides a secure utility storage area with tie-down points along the inner side walls. Access to the aisle is via the rear of the body and features a tough swing-down workbench tailgate. The XL A-Body provides an abundant storage area for tools and consumables and you can easily adjust the internal shelving to suit your needs.

A unique feature of the XL A-Body is an effective 100mm high, full-length storage compartments with gas strut assisted flip–up lids and internal locking. The average single cab A-Body has over 4 metres of linear shelving storage in the flip lid comparments. This is an ideal place to store your smaller items in a logical manner using the supplied adjustable shelf dividers. Everything you need is right in front of you next time you are looking for that special part.

With a low overall height providing excellent rear vision, and low centre of gravity for improved handling when loaded, the XL A-Body is the ideal mobile workstation for the serious contractor on the go.

The Z-Body

The XL Z-Body is the largest service body in the XL fleet and features:

Three vertical storage compartments on each side of the body
One horizontal storage compartment on each side of the body
Side door access to each compartment
Slam-lock, single-keyed doors.

The Z-Body doors also support central locking.

The unique feature of the Z-Body is the full-length storage compartment mounted above the vertical storage compartments on each side of the vehicle. It is an ideal storage solution for bulky components such as PVC pipe fittings, fluorescent tubes etc.

The top of the Z–Body aligns with the cabin roof of the vehicle and provides maximum storage while minimizing frontal drag helping to keep your fuel costs under control. When loaded correctly, the Z-Body still has a relatively low centre of gravity due to XL’s low chassis mounting points. The XL Z-Body is the ideal mobile workstation for carrying bulky items and tools.
